Description

About 61 million light-years away In the constellation Canes Venatici, I was able to capture this galactic group that includes the jewel of the group, Messier 106, and 5-6 galaxies of different sizes. I performed the majority of the post-processing including integration, stretching, and star color calibration,  of the UVIR and IDAS GNB data in AstroPixel Processor however, background extraction was done using GraXpert. Once the APP work was done, I moved the non-linear TIFF to Pixinsight and was able to use Blur Xterminator to sharpen and remove halos from stars and it also shrank and corrected stars that were slightly elongated vertically.  I am still trying to figure out the issue with the stars being vertical, as it does not seem to be the larger stars that have this issue and  I verified with CCD inspector that there is no tilt and this does not only happen at the edges but throughout the image. I'm glad that Blur Xtermintor was able to address and correct this. I also used Noise Xterminator and a small bit of HDR before moving the image to Adobe Lightroom Classic for a bit of tweaking of the contrast, haze, clarity, texture, and finally watermarking.  I am going to revisit this area as I am working on a long focal-length project with my EdgeHD 8 SCT and the 533MM. I think this may be a great combination for doing more focused and magnified captures of distant objects such as galaxies.
